Who is the Legacy Builder Homebuying Boot Camp for?
The Legacy Builder Homebuying Boot Camp was built for you, the visionary who is ready to stop renting, start building equity, and finally take control of your financial future. If you have stable employment but feel stuck on where to begin or if you have been told “not yet” and want to understand how to turn that answer into a “yes,” you belong here. You already believe homeownership is possible for you. You deserve real expert guidance from a team of dedicated, knowledgeable advisors who will help map out every step of your journey.
The Legacy Builder Homebuying Boot Camp is a free, 26-week hybrid program designed to meet you where you are and walk with you every step of the way to the closing table. Each week, you will receive a focused email lesson with action items that move your homebuying journey forward.
Every month, you will join a live Zoom session with your Legacy Advisors and invited guest experts, seasoned Maryland professionals across lending, insurance, and the homebuying process, who will answer your real questions in real time.
Twice during the program, we come together in person for workshops where the learning goes deeper and the community grows stronger.
Throughout the program, you will receive personal one-on-one check-in calls from Bernice Victor, licensed Maryland real estate agent with Keller Williams Preferred Properties, who will ensure you stay on the right path, because your journey is customized.
When you cross the finish line, we celebrate the right way, at a private graduation dinner where your hard work, growth, and your work towards building legacy receive the recognition it deserves.
How It Works.
Over six months you will gain the knowledge most homebuyers wish someone had given them before they started. We cover everything from repairing and building your credit to creating a budget and getting financially ready, from understanding mortgage basics to navigating pre-approval, and from unlocking the Maryland Mortgage Program’s down payment assistance loans to learning how Maryland SmartBuy can help eligible buyers pay off student debt at closing, along with the grant opportunities that may be available to qualified buyers. You will learn how to search for and evaluate properties like a pro, what happens during the home inspection, how title and settlement work in Maryland, and how to protect your investment with the right homeowners insurance.
This boot camp operates on the principle that a home is more than a purchase, it is a wealth-building tool. We close by exploring how real estate does more than secure a property, because it can help fund your biggest life dreams and build a lasting legacy that shifts the future for generations to come.

The Four Legacy Miles Stones

Complete your Financial Snapshot, review your credit reports line by line, and build a written budget and savings plan, so you know exactly where you stand and what it will take to move forward. (Target: Week 6).

Meet with a Maryland Mortgage Program approved lender and receive your written pre-approval, so you know your price range, your estimated monthly payment, and the down payment assistance you qualify for. (Target: Week 12).

Complete homebuyer education through a HUD approved housing counseling agency and earn your certificate, which Maryland Mortgage Program requires before your loan can be approved. (Target: Week 16).

Sign your buyer agreement, as Maryland law requires before an agent can show you homes, tour properties with confidence, and work toward a ratified contract on the home where your legacy begins. (Target: Weeks 17 - 26).

Yes, this program is completely free. There is no application fee, no program fee, no catch. The Legacy Builder Homebuying Boot Camp is free because we believe access to knowledge should never be the reason someone can’t become a homeowner. All we ask for in return is your commitment. Show up, do the work, trust the process.

Not at all. We accept applicants with any credit score. Credit repair is one of the very first things we tackle together in Month 1. Where you start is not where you finish. Show up, do the work, and trust the process.

All monthly Zoom sessions are held once a month on Wednesday at 7 pm. We record and share within 24 hours, so you can catch up on your own time. The two in-person workshops will be held on Saturday morning. We strongly encourage attendance since those sessions include partner experts and hands-on activities that are hard to replicate. If something comes up, we ask that you communicate with us early, and we will work with you the best we can.

No, The Legacy Builder Homebuying Boot Camp is open to anyone looking to purchase in the state of Maryland. Many Maryland Mortgage Program loans are reserved for the first-time homebuyers, which the program defines as someone who has not owned a principal residence in the past three years, though exceptions may apply in targeted areas and for eligible veterans, though exceptions may apply in targeted areas and for eligible veterans. Not for the boot camp. The Maryland Mortgage Program does set income and purchase price limits that vary by county and household size, and your Legacy Advisor in lending will help you understand where you fall.

It depends on your loan type, your price range, and the assistance you qualify for. Most buyers should plan for an earnest money deposit, closing costs, and a cushion of savings after closing. In Month 1, you will build a savings target that fits your situation, and you will learn how Maryland’s down payment assistance programs can reduce what you bring to the table.

No. You are never required to use the services of any Legacy Advisor to participate, and your education and support in this program do not depend on who you choose. Many participants choose to work with our team because they have built a relationship with us along the way, but the choice. isalways yours.

You are welcome to join. Ig you have already signed a buyer brokerage agreement with another agent, we respect that agreement, and you can still take part in every lesson, Zoom session, and workshop.

Of course, you can still apply. The Legacy Builder Homebuying Boot Camp is open to all Maryland residents. Our monthly Zoom sessions are fully virtual and accessible from anywhere in the state. In-person workshops will be held in Prince George’s County, Maryland. We encourage participants from across Maryland to make the trip. Your county does not determine your eligibility. You must intend on purchasing a home in the state of Maryland.

The goal is for you to be in your new home or actively under contract. This is the result for participants who complete all four milestones. The program is not the end, it’s the beginning of one of the best parts… homeownership.

Yes, this program was made just for you. Whether your deal fell through, your loan was denied, your credit wasn’t where it needed to be, or life got in the way, none of that disqualifies you. What matters is that you’re ready to try again with the right education, the right team, and the right support behind you. We don’t care where you’ve been. In Maryland, your buyer brokerage agreement spells out how your agent is compensated, and that compensation is always negotiable. In many transactions, buyers ask the seller to contribute toward those costs as part of the offer. We walk through how this works, line by line, before you ever sign anything.

Yes, and we encourage it. Anyone who will be on the loan should attend, because the Maryland Mortgage Program requires homebuyer education for it’s borrowers, and because buying. ahome is a decision you should make together, fully informed.

Plan for about 1 to. 2hours each week to read your lessons, complete your action items, and prepare questions for your Legacy Advisors, plus one monthly Wednesday evening Zoom session and two Saturday morning workshops.
